Goshin Ryu Ju-Jutsu

Ju-Jutsu is one of most comprehensive martial arts to be found. Used originally
by the Samurai for real life combat and battlefield, the training included armed as
well as unarmed fighting methods. Later on when training for such purpose wasn't
priority anymore, sportive forms as well as other martial arts such as Judo, Karate
and Aikido were developed from it.
Today, most Ju-Jitsu styles can be divided into 2 groups: Koryu - old or traditional
and Gendai Ryu - new or modern. Although both groups offer fantastic self-defence
training, they differentiate in the matter that the older styles involve Forms, also
known as Kata's as well as the handling of traditional weapons, whilst many of the
modern styles are more a kind of mixed martial arts, focused on competitive options.
Goshin Ryu Ju-Jutsu (also known as Goshin Jutsu) is none-competitive and combines
traditional as well as modern principles. The style taught at the Martial Art School
Nottingham incorporates techniques from various martial arts such as Ninjutsu, Boxing,
Judo, Karate, Aikido, Escrima and many others, providing so an excellent mixture of
self-defence and physical fitness. During your training you will be shown how to strike,
punch, kick, block and throw, how to fight on the ground, how to apply locks and pressure
points as well as how to defend yourself against armed and unarmed attackers. The training
is suitable for beginners as well as advanced martial artists.
